1:15 - 3:15 PM, Understanding How Childhood Trauma Affects At-Risk College Students

This two hour workshop will engage attendees in lecture, group discussion and activities to better understand the at-risk student from a holistic viewpoint in order to enrich the classroom experience for both teacher and student.

By the end of this workshop attendees will:

• Recognize effects of childhood trauma on adult students
• Examine effects of life experiences in identifying barriers to completing educational goals
• Recognize the potential of overcoming childhood trauma by seeking a life of meaning and purpose
• Demonstrate steps to reframing thoughts by Faculty toward at-risk student and the at-risk student to success in learning
• Explore progression between trauma and life calling/purpose
• Discover the connection of foundational values, unique design and personal leadership in finding purpose
