As a first time attendee it is one of our goals to prepare you to walk away with the knowledge to be culturally competent as well as learning that multiple ways of “knowing” can be seen as valid, resulting in relationships being strengthened. We will touch on the sociopolitical system’s operation in the United States with respect to its treatment of minorities. You will have a moment of reflection describing the age when you first became aware of your race.
One major outcome of this breakout is that you would commit to continuing to acquire the knowledge, awareness, skills to become more culturally competent.
