A - Exacerbation of Climate Change Effects Due to Redlining and Racist Practices

9:45 - 10:35 AM

This session will focus on understanding how redlining and other racist practices have led to outsized effects of climate change on minority populations in the US and worldwide.  We will discuss the specific consequences these populations face by examining a few recent case studies.  The participants will work in small groups to brainstorm potential solutions to mitigating climate change in their own lives. We will also discuss ideas to allow for reducing global emissions worldwide and how to incorporate social justice initiatives into these solutions to decrease inequities in schools, workplaces and communities.
