A - Geographers as Problem Finders and Solvers: Mapping Redlining

9:45 - 10:35 AM

All areas of life can be seen through a geography lens – who lives closest to hazardous waste? Where are the lowest cancer risks? What differences in opportunities and challenges can you see when you compare census tracts, zip codes, cities, state borders or whole countries? In particular, in this session we will consider the long shadow of redlining in Dayton.  As geographers, we work on all sorts of topics -- identifying who is most/least vulnerable, understanding our weather and climate, and critically thinking about how the global impacts local environment. Geographers work as Problem Finders and Solvers. Join this session for a look at the work being done by Sinclair faculty and students across the disciplines with the tools and lens of geography.
