This discussion will highlight the paradigm shift discussed in the book Dyslexic Advantage: Unlocking the Hidden Potential of the Dyslexic Brain by Brock L. Eide , M.D.M.A. and Fernette F. Eide, M.D.. We will highlight the advantage of shifting our focus on the strengths of a person with dyslexia and how this perspective will increase your successes working with students with disabilities and increase self-actualization of the student. We will explore the strengths, myths, and mysteries of dyslexia. This presentation will give opportunity for discussion on how this shift in perspective will assist faculty in their interactions in the classroom and beyond. Our hope is that this will increase the desire to learn more about neurodiversity and interest in our Spring book read for further discussion.
