As with many parts of history, BIPOC individuals are often times erased from the LGBT+ movement. Paris is Burning, an acclaimed documentary, takes a look specifically at ballroom culture among Black and Latin communities in the late 1980’s.

Please join us for what we hope will be a lively conversation about topics that include: the role ballroom culture has played in the lives of LGBT People of Color, the relevance of this film today, chosen families, and homelessness among LGBT youth.

Please note, this is a discussion-based event, there will be no lecture so your participation is essential. Questions and supplemental material to guide discussion will be sent closer to the event, but you will be expected to have watched the film and to contribute to the conversation.
