You are invited to participate in a Sinclair Community College “Book Read” and discussion sessions of Heather McGhee’s best-selling book The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together. Author Heather McGhee draws on a wealth of economic data to make the case that discriminatory laws and practices that target African Americans also negatively impact society at large. New York Times best-seller, ‘The Sum of Us’ Tallies the Cost of Racism for Everyone by Jennifer Szalai (Feb. 23, 2021) All participants will receive a copy of the book, but registration is limited to 67 people per session, so don’t delay signing up for this wonderful Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion opportunity.

  • Pre-work for January 27 – read Chapters 1 thru 5
  • Pre-work for February 3 – read remaining Chapters 6 thru 10

After you have registered for a session for both days you will receive an outlook invite with the zoom details. You will be able to pick-up a copy of your book at the “Our American Journey” exhibit from Sept 27 through Oct 1, located in room Library-001 on the top floor of the Library.
