Social Identity: Knowing Yourself, Leading Others

1:00 - 2:30 PM

Taken from an article written by Kelly Hannum, Social Identity refers to our way of thinking about ourselves and others based on social groupings. In this session we will explore social identity by discussing components of identity, mapping our identity and using this information to better understand other identity perspectives. We will discuss social identity and power, and review advice for leading in the context of difference.

To prepare for this session it would help to review the booklet Social Identity: Knowing Yourself, Leading Others at https://kong.sinclair.edu/record=b1938605~S1 and by watching the video Real Talk: Mapping our Identities Through Personal Narrative by Diana Moreno at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Uqy_pZxtIY.
