Join your Sinclair Librarians for monthly discussions around censorship and book banning. Each month, we will gather to discuss either a current issue surrounding censorship or a specific banned or challenged book, film, or resource. Please note, this is a participatory event and you will be expected to read the book/article or review the resource before we meet.

First published in 1970, The Bluest Eye, by esteemed author Toni Morrison has landed on the ALA list of the most banned and challenged books for the last 30 years. In 2021, it was still making the top ten of these lists. Reasons for banning the book have ranged from it containing sexually explicit material to accusations of it pushing a socialist agenda.

Discussion questions and supplemental material will be sent to all who register before the event.
