Join your Sinclair Librarians for monthly discussions around censorship and book banning. Each month, we will gather to discuss either a current issue surrounding censorship or a specific banned or challenged book, film, or resource. Please note, this is a participatory event and you will be expected to read the book/article or review the resource before we meet.

This month, we will meet to discuss one of the top 5 banned books of 2021, Out of Darkness, by Ashley Hope Pérez. Dealing with themes of racism, classism, and sexism, Pérez award winning YA novel has been banned in at least 24 school districts.

To prepare, please read the book as well as the following article. Limited copies of the book are available in the Sinclair and Ohio Digital Libraries for checkout:
